Wednesday Vignette: Erik the Red!

So red it doesn't look real

Flowers on the sunny side always seem to open first.

  1. It is a gorgeous (handsome?) Aloe! I've never seen it in mye local garden centers, although the botanic garden just 5 miles away recently planted several when they expanded their desert garden. I'll have to see if I can find out where they got them.

    1. I think he prefers 'handsome' but is still flattered by 'gorgeous'. True - I don't see these for sale much - in fact only twice in the last several years. One of those times was at a big box garden store and every plant was badly infected with cancerous looking sores caused by Aloe mite. The other time was at Half Moon Bay Nursery where they had 3; I bought all of them :)
